Safari opens HEIC on its own; other browsers load a decoder here once, then keep it for the rest of your visit.

How to Convert HEIC to JPG

1

Add your HEIC photos

Drop the files into the upload area, or click to browse your iPhone, iPad or Mac folder. HEIC and HEIF are both accepted, and you can queue up to one hundred photos at a time.

Tip: on an iPhone, copy the photos out of the Files app rather than the Photos share sheet, which can convert them on the way.

2

Set the quality

The slider writes the JPEG at the quality you choose. The pixel dimensions are never touched, so a 4000 × 3000 photo still measures 4000 × 3000 afterwards.

Tip: 90 or above for printing and sharing originals, 70 to 80 to keep emails small.

3

Convert and download

Press Convert and every photo is decoded and re-written on your own device. Take them one at a time, or download the entire batch as a single ZIP.

Tip: the Result tab shows the JPG beside the size it ended up, so you can check a file before keeping it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a HEIC file and why can't I open it?

HEIC is the container Apple started using in 2017 for iPhone and iPad photos. It stores the same picture in fewer bytes than JPEG, but Windows, Android and most websites cannot read it. Converting the file to JPG makes it viewable everywhere.

Will my portrait photos come out sideways?

No. An iPhone photo stays upright by storing a rotation marker next to the pixels, and plenty of converters forget to read it. This tool reads that marker and turns the image before saving, so a portrait stays a portrait.

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

JPEG is lossy, so some detail is re-compressed when the file is written. The quality slider decides how much: 90 percent and above is visually indistinguishable from the original for ordinary photos, and the pixel size never changes.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The decoding and the JPEG encoding both run inside your browser. Your pictures never leave the device, so nothing is stored, scanned or rate limited.

How many HEIC files can I convert at once?

Up to one hundred per batch. Each photo is converted on its own and can be downloaded individually, or you can take the whole set as a single ZIP archive.

What happens to the EXIF data, like the GPS position?

The output JPEG is written from the decoded pixels, so camera metadata, including the GPS position, is not carried across. That is usually what you want when you share a photo publicly, and it is worth knowing before you send the file to someone who needs the original data.
